Agfa has launched a web-based application for its IntelliNet workflow system called WebApprove and a new newspaper proofing system at Ifra.
WebApprove allows users to view the production status of any plate, page or image, as well as soft proof individual images.
Agfa marketing manager for newspapers John Buckingham said that IntelliNet WebApprove supplies an overview of the job or jobs in production. He added that the system expresses this as a percentage and has the ability to calculate if a deadline will be broken.
"It means that a production manager can see exactly at what stage a job is. Also, if hes got 200 pages to do, itll tell him if hell make it or not," he said.
Agfa also showed its new 90gsm newsprint proofing paper on the recently launched AgfaJet Sherpa 24.
Buckingham said: "Its on newsprint, so you can proof on what you print on. Its accurate to the finished product, and not too shiny as used to be the case. The Sherpa range gives an output which is as good as the actual print quality."
The Sherpa 24, which was launched last month at Print UK, has a maximum width of 610mm and can be roll or sheetfed up to a length of 910mm. It has a resolution up to 1,440dpi and a six-colour ink set - CMYK with light cyan and light magenta.
