The large-format machines, the first to be released since HP's development agreement with Seiko I Infotech last September, represent HP's move into the outdoor graphics arena.
DCP Systems is planning a series of roadshows to demonstrate the six-colour, low-solvent printers. The tour will start in Sheffield but the full details have yet to be finalised.
"The launch of these machines represents a major step by HP in the large-format ink-jet market," said DCP sales director Darren Walker.
"These machines are very easy and efficient to use and will generate business opportunities for print service providers."
Both printers are 64in-wide and use piezo ink-jet technology. The 8000 prints at speeds of 10sqm per hour while the 9000, based on Seiko's Colorpainter 64s, runs at 20sqm per hour.
The DesignJet 9000 came on the market this month, while the 8000 will be available Europe-wide from May. Art Systems is the UK distributor.
