Howitt is believed to have parted company with two senior staff.

Sources told PrintWeek that operations director Dr Laurence Powell and Andrew Lipinski, the ex-Communisis finance director who has been acting as the groups financial consultant on the Equator gravure project, had departed the Nottinghamshire group. The firm declined to comment.

Howitt has already parted company with sales and marketing director Mike Normyle and finance director Chris Knight this year (PrintWeek, 19 June).

Progress with the Equator project has slowed down in recent months, but the firm has denied that it is on hold. Last month Howitt said there were still a number of issues to be finalised, including an essential rail link and Regional Selective Assistance grant (PrintWeek, 25 September).
