Horne sheds light on Know-How goal

The Robert Horne Group has explained the rationale behind its Know-How Academy, designed to help printers to get the best from their paper, print and business.

"The Know-How Academy is an internal collection of what we believe to be key issues of the moment that we can communicate to our customers," said managing director Toby Marchant.

Customers can attend seminars and learn about the latest developments in particular fields, elements covered include digital technology.

Marchant said the take-up among customers to attend the seminars had been extremely good, even though they are charged to attend the events.

"People are quite happy to spend to send their people to attend to gain knowledge and see it's great value for money," he said. Marchant believes customers will acquire knowledge, which he said could help them to fundamentally change their business.

Within the Know-How Academy the PaperlinX owned merchant group has also incorporated some of the environmental work it is undertaking.

"The environment has always been part of the Robert Horne culture," he said.

This firm has established its environmental position both internally and externally, with the award of environmental management system ISO 14001 in March this year (PrintWeek, 25 March).

The group's technical and environmental manager Tim Barker also runs seminars on environmental matters.

In addition, the company has published two booklets on the environment, A promising step forward and The Rough Guide.
