The Rotherham-based company already has four flexographic presses, but managing director Bill Hine said that falling run lengths, and increased variation within runs, meant digital was the ideal choice.
"We can now offer customers fast turnaround of short-run work, competitive pricing on small quantities and the ability to handle variable-data production," he said.
The web-fed Xeikon 330 prints on label stock, paper and synthetic media in up to five colours, at speeds up to 14.7m per minute.
The press uses off-line post-press equipment from Digicon.
Meanwhile, Tamar Labels has installed a second HP Indigo press, a seven-colour ws4500, at its Tavistock plant to print short-run labels.
Sales manager Robert Lee said that HP technology and support services had been "vital for growth".
Tamar Labels produces customised standard labels, self-adhesive labels and security labels for a range of industries, including specialty food and wines
