Heron loses production on 64pp Lithoman

Wyndeham Heron suffered over a days lost production this week on its 64pp web press due to the failure of part of a motor in the oven.

Despite the press, which is the firm's biggest, being "pretty full" the firm rescheduled work across its own battery of 32pp webs and only had to outsource one title according to customer services director Alan Outlaw.

Outlaw added that the breakdown "caused us a lot of rescheduling meetings" to compensate for the 30 hours it was out of action.

The Maldon, Essex-based firm expected the MAN Roland Lithoman to be back in production this afternoon and Outlaw praised the good response from MAN Roland in getting the machine back up and running.

He added that the firm would be under less pressure in the future when its second 64pp Lithoman was installed. The base and sound proofing of the new machine are already in place and it is expected to be operational by September.
