The London-based printer has already experienced an upturn in the levels of work the printer is securing following the digital offset spend.
Phil Heron, partner at Heron Dawson & Sawyer, told PrintWeek: "We are now more competitive than before. We're getting more work as we can go in and quote jobs knowing as well that we can comfortably complete them."
The company said that the new machine has allowed the company to expand production facilities without moving from its central location.
The new investment replaces a KBA 46 Karat press. Heron said: "We're running the press at around 8 - 9,000sph, which is at least 30 - 40% faster than what we were doing previously.
"Although we don't always run the 52DI at its maximum speed, it has almost doubled our output," Heron added.
The Presstek 52DI can handle a maximum sheet size of 520x375mm and run at a top speed of 10,000sph.
The 15-staff printer was founded in 1964 and serves a range of clients that include BP, Nokia UK and Gillette.
Heron boosts business with Presstek kit
Heron Dawson & Sawyer has opted for a Presstek 52DI digital offset press following on from a period of "steady growth", an investment it anticipates will also boost productivity levels at the business.
