Heidelberg opens renovated Print Media Center

Heidelberg's Print Media Center (PMC) has been renovated and developed into an integrated commercial print shop, at its headquarters in Germany.

The newly renovated PMC covers more than 5,000m2 and will be used for customer demonstrations and events, as well as training courses for customers, in-house trainers and sales staff.

Roland Krapp, head of the Heidelberg PMC said: "The demonstrations are the most important way of showing equipment in use and correctly configuring this for customers."

All of the commercial printing equipment that was exhibited at Drupa 2012 is on display at the Heidelberg PMC.

"We take Drupa to a practical level and show how state-of-the-art technology can help our customers remain competitive," said Krapp.

Machines on display at the PMC include the new SX models including Speedmaster SX 52, SX 74, SX 102 and CX 102. There is also a ten colour Speedmaster XL 106 press, which has a maximum production speed of 18,000 sheets per hour.

Digital printers include the Linoprint C751 and C901 digital printing systems and the five-colour Speedmaster SX 52 press.

Clients can also see Heidelberg’s complete postpress range, including its saddle-stitching, binding and gluing equipment. All prepress, press, and postpress machines are integrated with Prinect workflow

Heidelberg has 135 employees and 15 trainees working at its two PMCs in Heidelberg and Wiesloch-Walldorf. The centres received almost 1,400 visitors and carried out around 1,300 customer demonstrations, in 2011.
