Hearnden, who joined the group from Polestar nearly 13 years ago, was previously group sales director.
He has now become UK sales and business strategy director, supporting Debbie Read who took over as CEO of the UK operations last month.
He has also joined the board of Rhapsody, Walstead’s pre-media business.
Read said: “Jon has demonstrated a clear understanding and recognised the importance for us to grow Walstead UK by utilising cross-selling opportunities and diversifying our offering.
“His new role recognises this and the significant contribution he has made to the business over many years.”
Hearnden will also work alongside Rhapsody CEO Andy Berg on growth opportunities for the business, which offers creative, content and media production across all mediums.
Andy Berg said he was delighted to welcome Hearnden to the Rhapsody board.
“Jon brings a wealth of industry experience and a proven track record in strategic development, making him a tremendous addition to our team.
“His commitment to driving growth aligns perfectly with our ambitious plans for Rhapsody and I look forward to collaborating closer with him to achieve these goals and propel Rhapsody into its next phase of its success.”
The changes are effective immediately.
The overall Walstead Group had sales of €648.8m (£554.3m) in its most recent accounts, for 2022.
Its UK wing employs more than 800 staff at its operations at Rhapsody in London, Bicester, Peterborough, Roche, Walstead Binders in Leicester, Walstead York; and filed turnover of just under €153.4m.
