The review will be carried out by Proskills, the industry’s sector skills council.
Proskills will develop a working group with representatives across several industries. First meetings will be held next week, with activities to begin in April.
The project will potentially result in the development of core entry-level qualifications and training courses. These courses could ultimately become integrated into the curricula for schools.
Proskills chief executive Terry Watts said: “Employees will develop vital skills and achieve recognised qualifications, while employers will find the process of assessing and selecting training courses far more transparent.”
