HDP publishes green manifesto

Hydro-Dynamic Products has launched its environmental manifesto and announced its intention to gain ISO 14001 accreditation as a matter or urgency.

The print consumables firm, well known for developing green alternatives for the pressroom, wanted to promote subjects such as reducing the impact of chemicals and their packaging, cutting waste and extending environmental management, by publishing its own commitment to good practice.

"We've noticed a real upsurge of interest in greener chemicals," said HDP managing director David Sheard. "That's why their development is the priority of our R&D programme."

Work includes identifying methylene chloride alternatives and chemicals with zero VOC emissions.

"The problem our chemists face is to find cleaner alternatives without affecting performance, which, of course, is sacrosanct in the print industry," explained Sheard.
