Haymarket cited the effect of the economic slump on advertising revenue as the underlying cause for the suspension of the magazine.
The announcement coincides with an article in today's Evening Standard on the issues facing B2B magazines.
Haymarket added that over the coming months much of the content of Printing World will be incorporated into sister title PrintWeek to ensure that Haymarket maintains its commitment to the print industry.
"The suspension of Printing World will enable us to focus our entire efforts on building on PrintWeek's position as the only 'must-read' title in the industry," said Haymarket Print & Packaging Group publishing director Wayne Manning.
"Haymarket is still 100% committed to the print industry; with 50 editorial staff and nine magazines and five websites globally. The suspension of Printing World is simply a reflection of the commercial reality of the economic conditions that affect our readers and advertisers."
Haymarket bought then ailing weekly Printing World in 2006, subsequently relaunching it as the market leading monthly.
Since 2007, the Wyndeham Heron-printed magazine has partnered with the BPIF on the BPIF/Printing World Excellence Awards. As a result of the suspension of the magazine, the 2009 awards will transfer to PrintWeek.
