The Lincolnshire-based business runs a mix of Ricoh and Xerox digital print equipment, as well as HP wide-format kit, two Heidelberg Printmaster litho presses and finishing equipment from Duplo and Morgana.

Its most recent investment was on the digital side and consited of a large format Ricoh MW CW2200SP colour MFP, with a maximum roll width of 914mm, and an MP 7502SP black-and-white, 75 A4 page/minute MFP.

This followed the installation of a Mohr 66 NET guillotine around six months ago, which the Print & Copy Centre installed as a replacement for its Ideal Digicut 5222.

According to Robert Melton, joint managing director of the Print & Copy Centre, the firm's old guillotine, which it had installed three years previously, lacked the automation of the Mohr and also struggled in terms of downtime.

"We've seen a huge improvement in productivity and reliability - the downtime on the other guillotine was not that good and the depth of the pile cut on the Mohr is probably twice as much," he said.

"The old machine had a keypad with a number read-out, whereas the new one is all touchscreen controlled, so it's a lot easier to store jobs, which saves a lot of time because we do a lot of repeat work."

Melton added that there was the prospect of even further automation with the Mohr 66 NET, because the machine is JDF enabled, although he added that the firm hadn't had time to set it up yet.

The Print & Copy Centre has increased its turnover by 15% in the past year to around the half million mark, thanks in part to its investment in new equipment. The Mohr 66 NET was supplied by Befordshire-based Watkiss Automation.
