The GPMUs Mid-Southern branch plans to use new employment laws to force Gardners Books into statutory trade union recognition.
The move follows a spate of disputes with the Eastbourne employer (PrintWeek, 9 March).
"This will be a case of saying to employees look what [the GPMU] has achieved with just a little outside help," said GPMU Mid-Southern branch organiser Jamie Major.
The campaign for union recognition at Gardners will be led through the Central Arbitration Committee by GPMU deputy general secretary Tony Burke.
GPMU representatives and Peter Skinner, Labour MEP for South-East England, planned to distribute information to all shift workers at the site on Wednesday (18 April) as PrintWeek went to press.
