Gordon Press in business drive following MBO

The Gordon Press has been bought in a management buyout, with plans to expand the business over the next two years.

Managing director Eric Mitchell, former general manager at the Croydon-based printer, heads up the new team, accompanied by business partner David Mills, who has come from outside the industry. Mills will handle commercial and financial matters at the firm.

The commercial and security printing business had been acquired from former owner Stephen Wrate, who is now pursuing other interests.

Gordon Press plans to expand the security printing side, which accounts for 60% of its business, using its current spare capacity.
Investment will be made in new equipment, with the Heidelberg house planning to step into the multi-colour market in the near future. All 18 employees have been retained at the firm.
