The Cambridge-based software developer said that it has made improvements to TrapPro, its in-RIP trapping engine, resulting in an up to eight times increase in trapping performance, due to the more efficient use of memory.
Global Graphics chief technology officer Martin Bailey said: "TrapPro always produced very good traps, but in the past some complex pages took longer to process than was profitable. We're now well below the threshold where that's a problem.Obviously, as run lengths come down, you can't afford to wait for plates, so the ability to process pages quickly
is paramount."
The company has also fine-tuned its Harlequin ColorPro module, which provides colour process control to give increased accuracy to spot colour conversion.
The update follows Drupa 2008's launch of Harlequin 8, which introduced multi-thread rendering to build upon Duo and Quad core technologies.
