Gilmex installs 200k of Duplo kit to back up move into digital print

Printroom consumables provider Gilmex International has invested 200,000 in Duplo finishing equipment following a 1m move into digital print.

The Woolwich-based company installed a Digital System 5000SCC bookletmaker, DPB-500 perfect binder, DC-10/60 suction collator, Ideal 7228 guillotine and Eurofold high-speed folder.

The investment follows the installation of a Xerox iGen4, which is the centrepiece of the company’s expansion from being a consumables supplier to a print supplier.

Director Matthew Palmer said: "We have been supplying city printrooms with binding, laminating and general presentation supplies for many years. As our partnership with these facilities matured we were getting more and more requests to provide outsourced print.

"While a printroom is great and can handle between 80%-90% of the day-to-day work at a corporate business, there are always the special jobs and larger capacity jobs that could not be handled in house. We have become their external printroom."
