GI Red is billed as a company that helps customers link data insight with creative ideas to deliver print and digital creative work.
Paul Sumner, who joined from Tesco where he was a procurement manager, is heading up the new outfit, based in Leicester. Its nine staff focus on three elements: document composition, artwork and creative.
Sumner's team has experience across all aspects of print media and digital formats from creative concepts, design and illustration to marketing, print production and personalised direct mail.
“We will focus mainly on the financial sector, but all sectors use data and are data driven, so we will work across them,” he said.
Sumner didn't give turnover or growth forecasts but said the new business had “quite humble aspirations, the main one being to make customers happy”.
He added: “GI Red is helping to link data insight with creative ideas to deliver print, POS and digital creative and artwork.”
GI Solutions Group manging director Patrick Headley said, “We have supplied creative solutions to our customers for some time. Now is the time to expand this offering to include all services our customers want.
“We are challenging our customers to be more creative and GI Red can help them achieve this to deliver better responses and revenues.”
Four months ago GI Solutions took advantage of Royal Mail's decision to accept brown cardboard and paper as 'sustainable advertising mail' to launch a digitally printed manilla envelope mailpack.
This followed a big restructuring of the company's senior management earlier this year to target further “bolt-on” acquisitions.
