According to the company, it will now be able to offer variable data printing with the additional capability of perforating in any position and any pattern across the whole width of the page.

It will also be able to produce giro perforations, tear-off sections, vouchers and coupons.

A spokeswoman said: "The ability to vary the application of running or pattern perforations is an exciting new development. A number of clients have expressed an interest and the first campaign using the equipment has been run with great success."

GI Direct is part of the GI Solutions Group, which employs 185 staff and has a turnover of £27.3m.
