The material was "soft launched" in May, but the testing phase is now over and it became fully commercially available last week. It is available in three thicknesses, 230μm, 300μm and 400μm. 

Print-On is manufactured and distributed from both GGS’ Portsmouth headquarters and also its GMP lamination and sleeking subsidiaries’ premises in Banbury, Oxfordshire.

Managing director Will Duggins said that the circa 50-staff group will initially focus on targeting resellers with the products, although it will also be talking to end-users. It will be looking to cross-sell to existing customers that have already purchased its range of wide-format thermal laminating machines.

Duggins said: “We’ve done a number of tests through the run and we’re very happy with it. The quality, the printability and the light fastness of the product is great, we’ve brought something very good to the market that we can hit a lot of customers with very quickly.

“We’ve dabbled with bits and pieces before but never had a product as good and durable as this. We’ve been in wide-format for a while, selling wide-format laminating machines, so got a lot of contacts, but to be able to offer them something brand new is great. It can be laminated but doesn’t even need to because of the quality of the actual material.”

Print-On is a PVC hybrid media and is suitable for printing with HP Latex, eco-solvent, solvent-based inkjet inks and UV printing, for both indoor and outdoor environments. Designed with a grey backing to minimise light transference, it has lay-flat and anti-curl properties.

“The manufacturing process for this material allows for perfect lay-flat so even when rolled up for a long time you’re not getting express curling,” added Duggins.  

GGS mainly supplies lamination and encapsulation machinery, including wide-format lamination machines, sleeking machines and lamination films. It operates from a 4,600sqm main premises and calls itself the UK’s largest independent conversion house.
