The additional year's work followed a Europe-wide tender process and covers the printing and distribution of all parliamentary documents, as well as promotional and marketing work for the material.
Printing will take place at an Edinburgh facility, although GDS will install a team at the Scottish Parliament to prepare documents for print and web publishing – enabling work to be printed overnight and distributed the following day.
GDS (Scotland & Ireland) managing director Fred Pollock said: "The Scottish Parliament frequently needs to create important documents that are ready for distribution within hours. We were able to bring substantial benefits through our dedicated teams that can ensure that this overnight service will be delivered.
"During the life of this contract our service brought about cost savings on administration and production costs, as well as boosting their green credentials by sourcing less expensive eco-friendly production material."
