'Gandhiji font' unveiled to commemorate Bapu's 141st birth anniversary

Mumbai-based advertising agency, Leo Burnett has launched its unique creation - the 'Gandhiji' font.

The font design has been inspired by Mahatma Gandhiji's trademark spectacles was unveiled on 2 October to commemorate the father of the nation's 141st birth anniversary.

The font has been created in the Devanagari script and the way in which 'Bapu's' spectacles have been incorporated in the fonts, and according to K V Sridhar, national creative director at Leo Burnett, reminds one of his vision and will allow users to see the world through his eyes.

"The creation of these fonts is our way of celebrating the life and teachings of the Mahatma," said Sridhar. "The values of truth and non-violence as imparted by Mahatma Gandhi decades ago are more important today than ever before, hence it only seemed apt to create something like this."

A version of this font will be soon available in English. The fonts will be promoted through the website www.gandhijifont.com and will be available for download across all platforms.
