The cuts, which affect the Pysons Road facility, come as Fujifilm pursues a wider inkjet strategy. Late last year it launched a new Euromedia business targeting the UK signmaking sector.
Jerry Avis, chief commercial officer for Fujifilm Sericol Europe, said that despite the business having its heritage in screen manufacturing, because of advances in technology, it was forced to make cuts.
He said: "It has got to the point where the level of our screen manufacturing can be completed in a single shift rather than two.
"We have become more advanced and more efficient. While screen has been declining, we've been growing our inkjet business, developing new skills and taking on new people."
Avis was also keen to point out that the job cuts were not related to the current economic climate.
"There's a balance you have to strike. One of managing a declining product with a growing one," he said.
