His career in print began in 1957 at William Speight & Son where he was apprentice bookbinder. After several other jobs in the finishing sector he joined Friedheim in 1977 as a finishing salesman, becoming director of sales for digital products in 1999.

"He will be greatly missed. We wish him a long and well earned retirement, but probably not a quiet one knowing Dave," said Friedheim managing director Peter Morris.
