The manufacturer offers two platforms; the E106 B1 enhancement press for the folding carton industry, which was launched at Drupa 2016, and the Ultra family of B2 presses.
Targeted at users including commercial printers, publishers and trade finishers, the Ultra portfolio has just been expanded with the launch of two new platforms, which are commercially available with immediate effect.
The Scodix Ultra 202 can print nine different applications and combinations of these applications, including Scodix Sense, Scodix Foil, Scodix Braile, Scodix Glitter, Scodix Metallic, Scodix VDP/VDE, Scodix Crystals, Scodix Cast & Cure and combinations of Sense on Foil, Foil on Foil and others.
This machine is compatible with a wide variety of different substrates and numerous printing technologies including toner-based, offset and others. Applications include premium business cards and greetings cards, folders, book covers, brochures, labels and packaging.
The Scodix Ultra 101, which was handed its worldwide debut at the HP Indigo Global VIP customer event last week, is entirely focused on HP and offset users.
This machine offers six Scodix enhancements including Scodix Sense, Scodix Foil, Scodix Metallic, Scodix VDE, Scodix Glitter and Scodix Cast & Cure, plus combinations of all of the above.
While exact pricing of the new machinery was not disclosed, Friedheim managing director Mark Bristow said it is pitched at the higher end of the market.
He added: “Scodix are a highly motivated company with a brilliant track record of research and development – bringing the very best of their technology to market.
“Although this could have an impact in all areas, as nowadays a lot of companies straddle certain definitions in relation to the roles and applications they are focusing on, I view it as having a lot of applications on the converting side and the finishing side.
“Bringing UK print service providers and converters this technology will mean securing a lot of key contracts from their customers.
“A major trend is going to be companies taking more control of their services and bringing more finishing in-house – the Scodix compliments our existing manufacturers perfectly in these regards and we’re looking forward to a long and fruitful relationship.”
Founded in 2007, Scodix has more than 300 machine installations worldwide, including 14 in the UK, and a growing network of 40 partners.
Up to now, Scodix kit has been distributed in the UK by Conversion UK. While it will no longer supply the UK market, the firm's managing director Mark Nixon will continue to focus on Scodix sales for the US market.
