The Southend-on-Sea commercial print and marketing firm won the accolade for its sustainable packaging, specifically the firm’s unbleached board business card box, printed on a Shinohara 74V five-colour press.
“Winning the 2024 Corporate Sustainability Award is a testament to our team’s dedication to reducing our environmental impact while delivering exceptional value to our clients. This achievement underscores our belief that sustainable practices are essential for the future of our industry.” said Andy Pond, managing director at Formara Print & Marketing.
Speaking to Printweek, he added: “It’s nice to be recognised for trying to make a difference.
“We’re trying to make sustainability a core part of the business moving forward. We know that we have a lot of work to do, but it’s one of our key aims.”
Conscious of this need, the firm is currently evaluating its ESG profile, looking across the business at areas to improve business sustainability.
One area is the elimination of plastic tape, with the firm looking at paper tape and hot-melt glue packaging seals.
The business also supports local charities like the Essex Wildlife Trust and the mental health initiative Trust Links.
Formara employs 27, turning over just under £4m annually.
