Extensis has signed up its first UK customers for Preflight Online and has over 100 sites evaluating it.
Keene Repro, which was the UK beta site, has now bought the system following the completion of successful trials, as has Printbynet (PrintWeek, 3 November).
By giving the client access to pre-flighting software without the overheads and with the ease of use of the web we can greatly improve our overall service to the client, said head of technology Bill Tickle.
Preflight Online now supports QuarkXPress application files including a collect for output as well as PDF.
Extensis has also set up a branded site using the PPAs pass4press format specifications, which several publishers and printers are trialling.
The browser-based service costs 4,200 to set up with no further costs apart from a 70p charge to check each file.
