The family-run business is a specialist supplier to the photographic industry and offers a wide range of products including photographic prints, fine art prints, albums, coffee table books and framed wall products.
The company is a long-standing Fujifilm customer for its speciality photo substrates.
Owner Ian Loxley told Printweek: “We use a lot of Fujifilm consumables – we’ve been a Fujifilm customer for 30 years through their film and paper business. They have a fantastic culture and are very good at continuous development driven by innovation.
“We went out to Fujifilm’s Ratingen facility in Germany a few weeks ago to look at the Revoria.”
Loxley said the Revoria’s colour gamut and inline finishing options were particularly attractive.
“We’ve taken the capability for ten colours and the extended colour gamut will really help us on our photo side,” he explained.
“The finishing facilities that come with the machine for products like booklets will help us automate those processes as well.”
Loxley said the Revoria would be used for complementary products to its core albums business, such as books, booklets, cards and invitations.
The investment involved was not disclosed, but Loxley described it as “a great package”.
“We’re looking forward to getting it for sure.”
The 120ppm Revoria will replace an existing Ricoh toner device that he said was due for replacement.
It will be installed at Loxley Colour’s state-of-the art, 6,503sqm lean manufacturing facility in Cumbernauld, near Glasgow. The business also has a hub in the Netherlands.
The firm employs 75 and has sales of around £8m.
Loxley was at the VIP launch event for Fujifilm’s new range of toner presses held earlier this week.
Theo Georghiades, general manager of Imaging Solutions at Fujifilm UK, said Loxley Colour was the firm’s largest pro-lab customer in the country.
“Ian always wants to make sure his business is at the forefront of anything related to the market. He’s an innovator,” he said.
“When the conversation started he was very quick to identify how the Revoria could really help and complement all of the other equipment he has.
“And this is the beauty of the synergies between our imaging division and our graphics division, because we have a multitude of different technologies. It’s not about saying one is better than the other, it's about saying we have a solution across different areas and it can make the business much more versatile to their customers.”
The Revoria will be installed in around six weeks’ time.
