First results of Digital Ad Lab PDF/X-4 project announced

The Digital Ad Lab has announced the first results of its PDF/X-4 project to test RGB workflows.

A 12pp test file was put together by Conde Nast digital manager Jonathan Moore and Paul Sherfield of Missing Horse Consultancy to check out how different workflows handle the PDF 1.4 format and its support of transparency.

Of the 12 workflow systems identified for testing, so far Agfa apogee-x, Alwan CMYK Standardiser and Dalim Twist have been tested.

Issues being tested include CMM used, black point compensation, CMYK- to-CMYK conversion and separation settings.

The results so far found colour was quite consistent, but set up of the different systems varied and required extensive colour management knowledge to ensure settings are correct.
