Finnish mill lockouts extended for another week

The Finnish Paperworkers Union has rejected the latest proposals on ending industrial action, forcing employers to extend the mill lockouts by another week.

"The industry has now used all possibilities to meet the paperworkers demands. The employers accepted both proposals for a settlement made by the National Conciliator," said FFIF president Timo Poranen.

"The Union's demands reflect short-sighted reaching for benefits and show their total disregard for operating environment and keeping jobs in Finland."

As result of the of the Union's rejection of the latest proposals the mill lockouts have been extended to 15 July.
