At the opening ceremony this morning (6 May), Daniel Sunderland, vice president of Canagraf (La Cámara Nacional de la Industria de Artes Gráficas – Fespa’s local association in Mexico), was sworn into office as Fespa’s 19th president.
He succeeds Christophe Aussenac, founding director of ATC (Autorise Toute Creativité), who held the position since 2021.
Sunderland said during the ceremony: “The world of print and visual communications is evolving at an unprecedented pace, from cutting edge printing, finishing technologies, and sophisticated automation to sustainable innovation and digital integration.
“We are not just witnessing change, we are driving it. One of the pillars of Fespa’s global influence has always been our world class exhibitions; let’s say this clearly and with pride.
“Our exhibitions are international, inspirational, and highlight innovation across our sectors. These are not just events, these are global platforms where professionals from every continent come together to showcase ideas, forge partnerships and set the trends that shape the future of graphic communications. Fespa events truly are the place where visionaries meet.”
He added: “Fespa has a long and proud heritage, but we are firmly focused on the future. We are committed to developing and inspiring the next generation, the future designers, engineers, printers, and visionaries. Our industry will only thrive if we invest in them through education, by generously sharing knowledge and ideas, and demonstrating best practices and inclusivity.
“Here in Berlin this week, let’s celebrate what makes our industry so powerful; creativity, collaboration, and connection. The best is yet to come, and the world will be watching at our exhibitions, in our networking events, and through the innovation we continue to lead. Together, let’s make the next chapter one of the most impactful in our industry’s global story.”
Before the Fespa board cut the ribbon to officially open the show, Michael Ryan, head of Fespa Global Print Expo, added: “I want to say welcome to everybody and enjoy the show. We’ve got four days, eight halls, over 600 exhibitors. Herzlich willkommen to Fespa.”
