The anonymous worker tipped off Ferrari after he was asked to format to disk a 780pp technical dossier belonging to Ferrari. The customer was the wife of Mike Coughlan, the now-suspended chief designer at rival British car manufacturer McLaren.
Following the Belgian Grand Prix on Sunday, where Ferrari drivers Kimi Räikkönen and Felipe Massa took first and second place, the team’s president, Luca di Montezemolo, dedicated the victory to the anonymous worker.
He told reporters: “I want to dedicate it to our fans… and to this English gentlemen, who in June, wanted to inform us that someone linked to an opponent team asked him to copy dozens of pages containing technical information about our car.”
