The contract, valued at around £1.3m, was advertised via the Crown Commercial Services (CCS) Postal Goods, Services and Solutions framework reference RM6017; Lot 7: Hybrid Mail, Digital and Transformational Communications.
Canning Town, London-based FDM will be responsible for the printing and fulfilment of all election materials including canvass forms, poll cards, ballot books, and all postal voting packs, along with any other materials that are required.
The contract officially started on 30 November and will be produced in-house.
FDM Document Solutions sales and marketing director Ian Forster said: “We are very pleased to share the news that we have been successful in the tender for the electoral work with Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.
“We have an exceptionally talented team here at FDM that have years of experience, along with professional AEA qualifications, that provide our clients with the confidence they need when we are managing their electoral output.
“Well done to all of the team that were involved in this process. It is another fantastic result for FDM as we move another step closer to becoming the preferred partner for more public sector customers through the UK.”
Electoral services manager for Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council, Mike Thomas, added: “Having previously worked with the team at FDM Document Solutions when I was at another council, I was aware of the knowledge and experience that they have when it comes to managing complex electoral services output.
“Add to that the professional qualifications including AEA Cert. that individuals at the business hold, and it provides us with the governance and credibility we need to appoint a preferred partner with confidence.
“It was imperative that we could trust the supplier that was appointed, and I’m pleased that the company chosen was FDM.”
This summer, FDM also secured a two-year contract to deliver election and electoral documentation for the City of Doncaster Council, worth around £1.8m to the business, and a separate contract to produce up to 18 million ballot papers for the 2024 London Mayor and Assembly elections, worth around £2m.
FDM has also recently invested in two Bowe Systec Fusion Cross high-speed production mail inserting systems to enhance its processing facility.
