Signmaker franchise Fastsigns UK has outlined its ambitions for growth in 2024, aiming to launch two new franchises before the end of year, on top of the two launched already.

Promoting two employees at its Staffordshire headquarters to help support this growth, the franchise has also seen a spate of hires and promotions across its member businesses, including several at the firm’s two new franchises in Tunbridge Wells and Leicester North.

In July Fastsigns promoted a new operations manager, Rebecca Perks, and elevated Emily Heathcote to senior business consultant.

The company, whose US parent company supports hundreds of franchises across the US, now supports 23 signmaking businesses across the UK.

Managing director John Davies told Printweek the company was aiming for four launches total in 2024. Year-end goals include increasing franchise sales by 10% year-on-year, increasing average centre sales to over £500,000 annually and improving franchise profitability by 25%.

“The continued growth over the last year is a testament to our dedication in supporting our franchises, as they continue to deliver high-quality services, while evolving to the changing needs of the market,” he said.

“As we continue to expand our centres and teams, we remain focused on creating a culture of collaboration, built on expertise, which is why we invest heavily in training and development for all of our team members.

“In 2024, our wider expansion strategy focuses on increasing our presence across the UK, ensuring that businesses nationwide have access to our high-quality signage solutions. Our goal is to not only grow our network of centres, but also to deepen our partnerships with local businesses, helping them thrive by enhancing their brand presence.

“We’re excited about the future and look forward to further growth and success in the coming months.”

Nik Mathur, owner of Fastsigns Tunbridge Wells, told Printweek that six months in, the business had achieved a solid toehold in the market.

“We’re trying to find our feet, but we’ve done quite a variety of jobs and our projected revenues are above our goals,” Mathur said.

On track to beat £225,000, the company has hired an additional salesperson to help handle its growth – and drive it even further.

“That should help us get where we want to be. We’ve done quite a lot of local signage, there’s a real variety. This last month has been quieter, with the school holidays, but it’s starting to get busier again.

“We’re really trying to grow our presence in the area, with the help of Fastsigns’ central marketing [team].”
