Set designers for Leeds charity event ‘Fashion Loves Comedy’ have given second life to off-cuts from FaberExposize UK's factory, transforming them into striking catwalk and event decorations for the 5 December event.

Approached by ethical fashion designer and event organiser Bo Carter, FaberExposize provided a range of fabrics that were then repurposed for the show, which brought together fashion and a lineup of female comedians for a night celebrating creativity, eco-consciousness, and social impact.

The event was held in aid of Choose Love, a charity dedicated to providing aid to refugees worldwide.

“They weren’t sure about which products they might want – so Holly [Stothard, FaberExposize marketing manager] invited them in to spend some time with the production team and go through the different waste [streams],” explained Iain Clasper-Cotte, managing director UKI of FaberExposize.

He told Printweek: “We’re part of the Fespa recycling programme, so it’s quite complex as we need to ensure the fabrics go the right way. It was quite helpful for them to come and look through the different fabrics, and they took about six back they could use for different products.”

FaberExposize has now recycled the decorations following the event, ensuring each fabric goes to the correct stream.

Clasper-Cotte added: “We love getting involved [with events like this], education, colleges, and things like that. Most of the fabric [recycled] makes traffic cones, which is not a sexy product – so having more interesting ways of reusing and getting extra life out of the products is always better.

“Here, we’ve extended the use of the materials, as well, which is much preferable to processing it straight away.”
