According to production director Tony Warrington, the job losses followed a 2m kit purchase.
"We have had to make these changes at the company to maintain our competitive edge," he said.
Among other machines the 2m spend included a Heidelberg press, pre-press and finishing kit, although Warrington refused to comment further.
The firm's existing equipment includes a Heidelberg Speedmaster 102 and a Komori Lithrone 840.
Alongside manufacturing, ESP also offers data manipulation, artwork processes and bespoke finishing.
