The new software improves the stability of the software, provides JDF integration with workflows and MIS and provides a modular platform for future feature developments. It replaces XL-Guide and i-cut Vision Pro, integrating the functions of both.
“I-cut ran on top of XL-Guide, which is never a good thing for software and made upgrades difficult,” said Esko regional business manager, northern Europe, Paul Bates. “It made sense to merge them into one. The best thing about it is not any new functionality, but that we have a platform to build on, which we couldn’t do before.”
A new interface was developed to simplify and speed up operation, reduce training requirements and improve productivity. It also enables users to interrupt a run to prioritise a prototype or rush job.
The JDF link provides feedback on the status of the machine to third party MIS and workflows, a feature that, while available on Esko’s flexo platemakers, was missing from the Kongsberg cutters.
“It works with any RIP, we’ve not nailed our colours to any one mast,” said Bates.
I-cut Production Console is available now on XN and V series tables with XP and C series supported next year. For users on a service contract it is a free upgrade.
