The Sutton-in-Ashfield-based firm installed the machine because it previously took three passes to complete its calendars, which was not economical in the lead-up to the busy Christmas period.
EPF managing director Paul Jackson said its calendars were extremely popular at this time of year, but added that customers often left orders until the last minute.
"We were having to put the wiro-binding in, then chop the hole for the hanger, then put the hanger in. With the 500, though, we can do it all in one go – it has saved us a lot of time," he said.
As well as improving the efficiency of its calendar work, the lamination, die-cutting, UV binding and wiro-binding specialist is also running the machine alongside an older product, increasing its book production capacity.
EPF is eight years old and employs five staff. It expects to turn over £400,000 this year.
