Edotech acquires Swiss competitor

Edotech, the Tewkesbury-based transactional print group, has extended its reach into Europe and expanded its data management capabilities with the 6.5m acquisition of Zurich-based competitor Cominformatic.

The takeover means that Cominformatics 110 staff, along with its offices in Geneva and Vienna, will come under the Edotech umbrella.

Edotech managing director Sam Ferguson (pictured) was excited by the prospect of creating a pan-European company.

"It is imperative that Edotech grows from a position of strength building on its core business, enhances its portfolio of services, and seeks further acquisitions," said Ferguson.

Edotech financial director Andrew Frome said Cominformatic held high-quality intellectual property relating to document archiving, as well as a strong financial client base including UBS, Credit Suisse and BNP.

"Its important for geographical reasons, but also in the expansion of our product offering," Frome added. "We want to be able to provide information in whatever medium our customers specify, whether that is paper, CD or electronic."

Cominformatic, which has a turnover of 16m, also has e-presentment products Archea and Axxento, which provide customers with front-office support for e-billing.

Edotech also bought Online Bills six months ago, including its software applications.

Edotech won a 50m contract from BT last year (PrintWeek, 12 April 2002), taking over two of its sites in Milton Keynes and Gateshead, 120 staff and equipment.
