Based in Musselburgh, East Lothian, the Scottish company began life 43 years ago as a photo lab, but over the years has evolved to become a specialist in high quality wide-format print and bespoke joinery for exhibitions and events.
The business installed its first Latex 800 in August, which was supplied by Perfect Colours. This proved successful so after a visit to the Perfect Colours Roadshow, it decided to place an order with the reseller for a second Latex 800, as well as a new Summa cutter, with this kit being installed late last month.
Eastern Exhibition & Display finance and operations director Shevy Kapoor said the initial purchase had been in the planning stage since spring 2020, during the first coronavirus lockdown.
“We reviewed the market for a machine that would give us the same or better quality as our existing Durst Lambda, and a constant name that came up was HP Latex 800.
“The success of the machine was impressive; we spoke to similar companies who invested in the machine, and what they said was also very positive.
“The eco credentials of the machine are also very important to us as a company and to our creative clients. We hope to offer clients more types of print that aligns with their sustainability needs, as well as enter the bespoke wallpaper market over time.”
Eastern Exhibition & Display has also signed up for HP’s Planet Partners Program to further boost its sustainability edge.
Kapoor said the decision to replace the existing machine with the Latex 800s also helped free up floor space at its facility, as well as create a quieter and more pleasant working environment for staff.
“The machine is as you’d expect; it’s fast and the quality of print is exceptional,” Kapoor added.
“We can now operate with less supervision and our less experienced team members have learned very quickly how to operate the machine.
“It is also very evident that there is less waste and ink usage – and that is great for sustainability and costs.”
Eastern Exhibition & Display works with brands including BMW, British Airways, Qatar Airways and SEE.
