Eaglen pours 400k into Ryobi kit

Leeds-based Eaglen Press bought a four-colour Ryobi 524GX with coater at Ipex to speed up makeready times.

The firm spent 400,000 on the B3 press which runs off 15,000 impressions per hour, said managing director Stephen Eaglen.

"More impressive is plate changing and makeready," he added. "Semi-automatic plate loading and blanket wash is a boon for short-run work."

The kit will print stock between 115gsm and 400gsm, both coated silk and gloss material. It will replace a two-colour Ryobi 522E and join a five-colour 525HX model.

"The coater was an essential addition. Fast turnaround is a crucial ingredient for the firm and our customers. It means we can handle the work almost as soon as it comes off the press."

Eaglen, who ordered the machine from Apex Digital Graphics, added: "We needed to install another press to handle the amount of work coming in."
