The company moved its finishing department to the new facility three weeks ago and invested £38,000 in the new guillotine, which it bought from Heidelberg, who also transferred its existing finishing equipment to the new premises.
Managing director Michael Needham said the new premises would allow the company to cater to its growing client base, which includes Manchester City FC and local engineering and education firms.
"Because of the demise of a lot of other print companies in the area, more customers are coming to us now. And the economic situation is getting better globally so trade is picking up for our clients as well," he said.
E Petch Printers currently handles finishing for other printers and Needham said the new guillotine would allow it to process a broader range of stocks and sizes.
"This guillotine enables our staff to satisfy our increasing demand with the minimum of training. We operate with a very flexible workforce and they will benefit from the bigger touchscreen technology," he said.
Needham added that moving the company’s finishing department made space for its planned move into digital print in the coming year.
"We’re looking at Heidelberg’s digital presses because we’re having a lot of requests for digital work now and at the moment we’re having to outsource it," he said.
He said the overall expansion of the company could allow it to take on new staff in its finishing department next year.
