Developed by Objective Advantage, the OA Symbio works with Duplo's JDF connector to create job tickets for the DC-645 slitting, cutting and creasing machine.
"For those who haven't been able to embrace JDF so far, Symbio is an ideal starting block," said Duplo UK technical marketing manager Peter Dyson. "It had by far the most interest on our stand at Print 05 [in Chicago]."
Taking a PDF file with an un-imposed one or two-side print item, Symbio guides the production operator through job layout for printing and finishing purposes. It produces a multi-up PDF sheet and uses JDF to submit the job to the press and finishing machines.
Symbio will be rolled out in the US this autumn, with a UK spring release likely. Duplo plans to have the tool supporting other products, including its DBM-500 Book-letmaker, in time for Ipex.
Key Benefits
- Knows the exact layout that was used
- Images can be previewed on a JDF connector, running on a standard PC
- The sheet is orientated as it should be loaded
