Dsi to expand with 4th iGen3, bigger facility

Dsi group is to accelerate its growth ambitions with the installation of a new Xerox iGen3 (pictured) and plans to move into a new 13,600sqm site at the end of next year.

The digital press is the fourth iGen3 at the company and will be installed at the end of this month. According to dsi group managing director Andy Young, the additional press provides back-up and will help the firm produce more work next year.

"It will help meet demand, particularly next spring," said Young. "Our firepower is fairly hefty."

Dsi is also set to move into a new 13,600sqm facility in Rainham, Essex. Building work is to begin on the site at the start of next year and dsi is set to move in at the end of 2006 or early 2007.

"The big issue at the moment is space," said Young. "The business is split between 20 buildings on two sites in Rainham. We want to put it all under one roof."

Earlier this year dsi became a 50m-plus turnover group after taking control of Talisman Print Services. It also has facilities in Docklands and the North East.

In addition to the four iGen3s, dsi also has a Xerox DocuColor 2060 and a 6060. It has also bought an 8000 to replace another 2060.
"It makes sense for us to be a Xerox house as it is important to get the same colour standard out on different machines," added Young.
