Drent shuts UK arm after sales grind to a halt

Drent Goebel has closed its UK sales operation, Drent (UK), with KPMG Corporate Recovery Leeds appointed liquidator on Tuesday 5 October.

"Falling sales had lead to the liquidator being called in," said a KPMG spokeswoman.

"We have closed the UK office under particular circumstances, so we don't have representation in the UK at this moment," said Drent Goebel marketing manager Rob Meig.

The firm, which has recently been awarded patent rights for its Variable Sleeve Offset Printing (VSOP) press, is currently looking for a UK sales outlet. "We are now busy looking for the right people for the UK," added Meig.

Drent is believed not to have sold any presses into the UK for a couple of years, although a firm in the south of England is rumoured to have recently ordered a VSOP press with an option for a second.
