Drent buys RDP for exposure in North America

Drent Goebel has bought Canadian narrow web press manufacturer RDP Marathon for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition is part of Drent Goebel's plan to build on its successes in the North American market, by strengthening its sales and service presence.

"The success of our Variable-Sleeve Offset Press (VSOP) in North America makes this a logical step," said Drent Goebel chief executive Rob Teunissen.

The purchase will also add RDP's successful V-series blanket-to-steel and P-series blanket-to-blanket presses to the Dutch firm's portfolio.

RDP has 35 staff and a 17m turnover and Drent Goebel has 350 staff with a 70m turnover. The firm hopes to build this to  a combined turnover of 140m within two years.
