“The old brand DPI didn’t really mean anything locally and as we have picked up work from four major local business in the last 12 months we wanted a brand that people associated with Christchurch,” said managing director Robert Jupp.
The company moved to a new unit in Christchurch, Dorset at the end of 2015, previously it had been in Verwood, 15 miles away on the other side of the New Forest.
Its upgraded finishing equipment includes a Vivid Matrix 370 pneumatic laminator with the ability to apply foils and spots.
“I saw the new capabilities of the Matrix at PrintWeekLive! and was very impressed with the amount of added value that the ability to foil could add for such a low investment,” said Jupp. “We are going to do a lot of marketing using the capabilities of the Matrix to promote our new brand.”
Other equipment, sourced from KC Digital Services, included a Multigraf Touchline CF375 creaser-folder and an Ideal 7260 Guillotine.
The latest spend rounds off a refresh of the firm’s finishing kit begun last year with a Watkiss PowerSquare 224 bookletmaker and Duplo DC-616 multifinisher.
“We’ve removed the bottleneck in our finishing and now have the time, space and equipment to do everything we need in house,” said Jupp.
Over the next year the £350,000-turnover firm, which has three full- and two part-time employees, will refresh its digital press line up. It currently runs two Xerox D125 monochrome machines and a J75 colour printer.
