Dixon returned to the group a year ago, three months after the then-Innovative Output Solutions acquired Lateral Group.

He implemented a restructuring and integration of the businesses, including the closure of its Manchester print facility. The print operations were rebranded as DST Output UK in line with its US parent group during the summer.

The senior management restructure means that Jeremy Walters, currently managing director at DST’s Dagenham operation, steps up to become chief executive of DST Output UK. Walters and Lateral Group chief executive Jason Cromack will now report directly to Steve Towle, the president of DST Output.

A source close to the company said Dixon, who has a home in France, had agreed a short-term commitment at the time of his appointment.

In a statement to employees, Towle said the changes were as a result of the successful integration and rationalisation of the various businesses.

"I would like to thank Nick Dixon for establishing and guiding the team following his return to the business last year," he said.

DST’s UK print operations in London, Nottingham and Bristol have a combined turnover of £134m and employ around 1,000 staff.
