Diguru to install UK’s first Heidelberg Linoprint CV

Commercial printer Diguru is set to install the UK’s first Heidelberg Linoprint CV digital press as part of a £130,000 investment that also includes a Xerox Color J75 printer and a Polar 66 guillotine.

The two printers will be installed at the Chandler’s Ford-based firm’s premises later this week with the Polar guillotine due to follow at the end of the month.

The two new digital presses are replacing a Xerox DocuColor 8080 and a Xerox 700, both of which are being sold on.

The 90ppm Linoprint CV can handle stocks of 52-360gsm in sheet sizes of up to 330x700mm using the new banner sheet feeder.

“The fact the Linoprint CV can produce a six-page A4 product, portarait or landscape, is a big advantage and we are taking a five-colour machine so have the option to add an opaque white or clear varnish coating, which will be particularly attractive to our agency clients,” said managing director Richard Harwood.

“The press will be used to produce a wide range of products from business cards through to brochures and leaflets for customers including B&Q, Carnival UK and NHS, Ageas Insurance as well as a number of local authorities, agencies, colleges and universities.

“The financial deal on this press was attractive and the Heidelberg reputation and industry knowledge, particularly on colour, was convincing.”

The business also looked at alternatives from Xerox and Konica Minolta, but found the Linoprint CV to be the best fit for its requirements.

Operations director Alex Marszal said: “We looked at the type of work we’re producing and what the market was doing. We knew what we wanted but the additional extras made the Linoprint CV stand out from the crowd.”

The business will run the 76ppm J75 alongside the Linoprint CV to produce more specialist short-run jobs including self-adhesive and window graphics. Marszal said the Linoprint will be uninterrupted with regard to handling longer runs.

Diguru also operates a Presstek 34DI digital offset press, an HP Designjet Z6100 for wide-format applications including roll-up and pop-up graphics and an HP Designjet L25500 latex device for banners, outdoor signage and flags.

It also offers in-house finishing services including folding and creasing, die-cutting, spot UV varnishing, lamination, wire binding and comb binding.

The business, which has 11 staff, has increased its turnover from £400,000 to over £1m in the past five years.
