The Pira International report, published in association with Fespa, has forecast the market to increase significantly from the €114.6m value in 2009.
According to The Future of Digital Print for Textiles: Market Forecasts to 2014, growth in the sector will be driven, in part, by the display and signage market.
It noted that an increase in the use of digital textile production could help bring textile work back away from countries traditionally associated with low manual labour costs.
In addition, the report highlights the growing demand for short-run work, which could help migrate some production back to European printers.
Marcus Timson, corporate communications director at Fespa, said it was important for the digital and screen industry body to get a "scientific view of the future direction of the digital textile market".
He said: "Fespa's screen printing heritage is such that printing onto textile has always been a very significant element of our events."
The study also revealed that the install base of digital printers for textile printing will swell to more than 52,000 machines by 2014.
The Future of Digital Print for Textiles: Market Forecasts to 2014 is available now for €3,950, with Fespa members eligible for a 15% discount. For more information, visit www.pira-international.com.
